HISTORY OF THE SCHOOL

Jwalamukhi Public School, Lairouching PO : Karong Dist : Senapati, Manipur was established in January 1984 under the Chairmanship of Col N P Nanda, Commandant 21 Assam Rifles.It is located at Jwalamukhi(Lairouching) on NH-2 between Dimapur and Imphal at a distance of 136 km from Dimapur and 79 kms from Imphal. At present the school is running under the dynamic command and chairmanship of Col. Munish Sharma, SM Dy Cdr HQ 22 Sect. Assam Rifles. Initially the School was recognized by the Board of Secondary Education Manipur, however now it is affiliated to Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi up to Class X in 2003.
Today the children of Assam Rifles personnel as well as the local civilians including the students from Imphal valley are being provided quality education at this reputed institute. The School has come a long way since its inception and with its ever improving standard of education as well as its infrastructure it is poised to be one of the finest Centre of learning in the whole state of Manipur.
Education at all levels is viewed today as an acquisition of skills rather than bookish knowledge. As such, the curriculum imposes the imperative of including in it a variety of activities that impart skills that can form the basis for a career later on. It is with the purpose to create a unique educational platform and environment that facilitates and encourage the spirit of enquiry, creativity and moral leadership that we have interpersed art and sports into the curriculum with the aim of engaging all the learners, while enthusing and challenging them. Developing creativity and stimulating imagination among the learners are the common threads of curriculum. Use of technology both by the facilitator and the learners has been emphasized throughout the curriculum, preparing and developing learners thinking for the world of tomorrow. A complete transformation in the way teaching learning takes place has been brought about by using innovation practices. The concept of flipped classrooms literally turns the traditional education on its head that has effectively implemented higher order skill in the classroom. Saturdays are used In a productive way by the students as a home study day. Arrangements are made to allocate one period in the time table on Friday, so that the teachers prepare assignments that are supported by study material that are uploaded in the form of lecture videos, PPTs, Web links, etc for the students to access them 24×7.
  1. On all working day and in School functions, children are to wear the uniforms prescribed for the session. They must come to School neatly dressed else they shall be sent back or will be liable to disciplinary action.
  2. Children are strictly forbidden to go out of the school during the School hours without permission the Principal.
  3. Books, Note books, Bags, Tiffin Box etc. should bear the Name and class of the owner. The School is not responsible for any such thing that gets lost.
  4. Class Monitors shall maintain the class discipline in the absence of the Teacher Co-Operation from all students to the respective class Monitor is expected.
  5. No student should loiter in the School & disturb the teaching of the other classes. Free period if any is to be properly utilized in the Reading Room/Library.
  6. Parents should check the diaries of their children daily and ensure that there are following instructions properly.
  7. Don’t send your ward to this school when they are unwell.
  8. If you fell or notice that your ward is not making the desired progress, kindly come and discuss with the Principal to ensure the progress of your ward.
  9. Parents/ Visitors will not go to the classrooms to visit their ward. They will contact the school office in case of any emergency.
  10. If any student is caught using unfair means in any exam/test, he/she will be awarded ‘Zero’ in the subject.
  11. If any damage is done to the school property it has to be repaired/replaced or an amount decided by the school authority has to be paid for the same.
  12. If any student is withdrawn/removed from the School either by his/ her parent or by the School authority no certificate will be issued until all the dues have been paid.
  13. A student admitted to the School has to pay tuition fees for 12 months from April to March along with other fees as applicable at the time of admission.
  14. School Fee will be paid monthly. Fee must be deposited within the month otherwise late fine will be charged.
  15. Parents have to come and take their wards if they have to be sent home in between the school hours.
  16. The rules and regulations are subject to change without any prior notice.

Each student must carry the school diary to school every day. Students should reach school at least five minutes before the bell rings for assembly. Attending the school Assembly is compulsory. Any student arriving later 15 minutes of the scheduled school time will NOT be allowed to attend school for the day.

Once a student is in the school, he/she will not be allowed to go home early. In case of any emergency, the parents have to come to school and collect their wards. The student will not allowed to leave with anyone else, even with a written consent by the parents.

Students who come to school escorted should NOT leave before the escort arrives. In case of a delay, they should report to the school office. Those who go home on their own should not loiter on the way.

Students are warned not to buy anything, especially eatable from unauthorized vendors.

No books or magazine other than the ones prescribed should be brought to the school.

`It is advisable not to wear expensive jewellery or being valuable items  the school will not be responsible for goods lost. BRINGING MOBILE PHONES TO SCHOOL IS STRICTLY PROHIBITED. If a cell phone is found without legitimate permission, the phone will be confiscated and NOT RETURNED.

The school does not allow presentation of gifts by parents or students to any member of the staff on any occasion.

Proper discipline should be maintained during school hours.

Care must be taken of all school property. No student should scratch or damage school furniture, write or draw anything on the walls or damage things belonging to other. Any one notices damage should report the matter at once to the class teacher or the office. Any damage incurred will be borne by the student/students responsible for it.

Students are advised to keep their classroom and school building as clean as possible and throw left over in the designated dustbins only.

Students should observe polite behavior whenever they go. They should always remember that the school is judged by their conduct. They should greet whenever and wherever they meet them .

  • Parent Teacher meeting is held once in every month. The parents are informed well in advance. All parents are required to attend the meeting.
  • If any parent wants to meet the teacher on any other day he/she can do so and come to school between 10 AM to 11 AM on any working day.
  • Prior intimation of the same will enable the teacher to make himself /herself available at this time.
  • Every student is expected to have a minimum of 80% attendance failing which he/she may not be allowed to appear for the final examination. Whenever a student is absent, parents/guardians are to notify the class teacher through a note in the almanac or through e-mail.
  • If a student is unwell and absent for 3 days or less, an explanatory note signed by the parents/guardians stating the reasons for absence must be given to the class teacher on return. If a student is unwell and absent for more than 3 days, the above must be furnished along with a medical certificate.
  • If a student requires taking leave for any reason other than medical, prior permission of the Principal must be sought through a note in the diary stating the reasons clearly.
    • For 1 to 3 days – Permission to be taken for the class teacher. For more than 3 days – Permission to be taken for the Principal.
  • Two calendar months’ notice must be given before a student can be withdrawn or two months fee will be charged in lieu of the two months notice .The Transfer Certificate will be issued only after all dues to the school are cleared.
  • A students name can be removed for the roll of the school for the following reasons :


*  Continued absence for more than 10 days without information in writing or prior permission.

*  Gross indiscipline, disobedience, disrespect towards staff members and other students.

*   Using foul languages and indulging in physical violence.

*  Indulging in unfair means during examination.

*  Causing damage to school property.

*  Possession of indecent and undesirable reading material.

*  Non- payment of fee for a quarter.

It is the responsibility of the parents to ensure that their wards meet the following
discipline of school.

Safety and security of the students in the school premises is the prime concern of the school. Every effort is made by the school to avoid any unpleasant or untoward incident with the student and all possible measures are taken to ensure that it is prepared to respond to all emergencies effectively. While ensuring safety in the school, a holistic approach is imperative to create an environment which looks at the multiple dimensions of vulnerability faced by the child.

With this concern, the school has set up Safety and Security Committee and Child Abuse Prevention Committee, represented by the members of the staff and parent community. The sole purpose of this initiative is the establishment of a strong system that addresses the safety concerns of our children.

The following mechanism has been set in place:-

Moreover, workshops and counseling sessions for the students addressing the issue of child abuse are organized from time to time in the school under the supervision of the Principal. The committee also facilitates training to the school personnel, children and parents on child safety and security related procedures and processes.   • Discipline isone of the basic requirements of a civilized life and plays a significant role in shaping a student’s personality and molding their character. Hence, a sense of discipline should be inculcated in a child at a very tender age. Parents too must co-operate with the school in observing these norms and making the students disciplined:-
    1. Attendance is compulsory for the celebration of National Days.
    2. Irregular attendance, unjustified or unexplained absence from school, habitual late coming, leaving the school premises without permission, disobedience and any type of unruly and objectionable behaviour are considered to be grave acts of indiscipline on the part of a student which can lead to his/her expulsion from the school.
    3. The school uniform, only in prescribed school colour, should be immaculate clean and smart, and should be worn on all working days, and functions. Actions will be taken against students who are habitually improperly dressed.
    4. Students on their way are expected to conduct themselves in a responsible manner. Being on the road in any mode of transport entails caution, care and attention to safety rules.
    5. Students who expect to reach home late after the school due to personal reasons must inform their parents/guardians in advance.
    6. Students are expected to take proper care of the school property. It is for their convenience. They should not break any item of furniture or fixtures in the school.
    7. They should not write, scratch or engrave graffiti on desks, chairs and other surface.
    8. They should not damage or steal things belonging to other students.
    9. Damage due even by accident must be reported at once to the HM/Coordinator/Class Teacher. Anyone who notices something damaged must report the matter to any of the personnel mentioned above.
    10. If a student causing damage to the school property is identified, he/she will be charged with a fine or suspended for a period.
    11. In the event of collective damage to school property in a classroom, the entire class will have to bear the cost of damages.
    12. The school is not to be held responsible for the loss of personal belongings. It is not advisable for students to bring valuables to school.
    13. Parents are requested not to give more than Rs. 50/- to their ward. If for some reason, he/ she has to bring more, written information must be sent to the class teacher.
    14. Running and shouting in the school premises is not allowed. While using staircases and corridors, all must keep to the left. Loitering in the lobby and office areas is strictly forbidden even during recess.
    15. Students are strictly forbidden from purchasing eatables from unauthorized vendors/hawkers during the school hours.
    16. Parents are requested not to send money to school against any verbal instruction. Money collection will only be done through a written circular duly signed by the Principal.
    17. It is compulsory for all students to attend the assembly.
    18. All our students are expected to observe high standards in their general get up, deportment and conduct.
    19. Use of unparliamentary language is a punishable offence.
    20. In order to acquire competency in spoken English, all students must converse in English while they are in school.
    21. Using unfair means in a test or examination is a grave offence. A student who is found using unfair means will be awarded a zero in the subject and will be issued a strict warning. Repetition of the same offence will result in his/her expulsion from the school.
    22. Students are not permitted to carry mobile phones to the school. If a student brings a mobile phone to the school, it will be confiscated for a period of six months and a fine of Rs. 2000 will be imposed. They are not allowed to use schools phones without permission. They cannot be called to the school offices to attend to phone calls during school hours. However, in case of emergency, the telephone in the Principal’s room may be used by the student.
    23. Mis-behaviour inside the school premises or in the school conveyance can lead to disciplinary action against the concerned student. Disobedience irregular attendance, objectionable behavior, use of abusive language, discourtesy and disrespect to the teachers, will also lead to strict disciplinary action.
    24. Students are not allowed to drive motorized vehicles such as cars, scooters and motorcycles in or outside the school.
    25. A student indulging in any act of indiscipline could be given severe punishment, as severe as suspension from the school.
    26. Bunking classes or school is strictly prohibited. If a child is found bunking a class, he/she will be suspended from the school.
    27. Writing on shirt/uniform is a punishable offence.
    28. Using HoliColours, bursting crackers will lead to severe penalty in the form of marks deduction and suspension/rustication from school.
